
Jana McConnaughhay specializes in Estate Planning matters for families and business owners throughout Florida. She is Board Certified in Elder Law. She chaired the Board of Directors for the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar and chaired the Section’s Certification Committee. Additionally, she chaired the Board of Directors of the Big Bend Office of the Public Guardian, and took on several leadership roles within the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, including Administrative Chair, Substantive Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Medicaid Committee Chair and Website Chair. She served as Secretary of the Tallahassee Bar Association and a board member of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. She also chaired the Grievance Committee for the Second Judicial Circuit.
Jana also servers her community in a variety of ways. She currently volunteers as a guardian ad litem for the Second Circuit through the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office and on the Board of Directors for Big Bend Hospice. She also led the Gilchrist School Advisory Committee as Chair, was Finance Chair for the Board of Directors of School of Arts and Sciences, volunteered with the United Way’s Reading Pal program, and was a member of Leadership Tallahassee’s Class 16.
Thomson Reuters consistently designates her a Florida Super Lawyer, a distinction fewer than 5% of lawyers in the state achieve. Martindale Hubbell rates her “AV,” reflecting the highest level of professional excellence. Other honors include The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award for Florida’s Second Circuit in 2025, an Elder Law Section Member of the Year award and the Guardian Angel award from the Office of the Public Guardian. The Tallahassee Democrat honored her as one of Tallahassee’s “25 Women You Need to Know.”
Jana earned her B.A. in Accounting with honors from Furman University and her law degree (J.D.) from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where she received the K. Harlan Dodson Moot Court Award for her exceptional contributions to the Moot Court program.
