Kandace E. Rudd, JD, MSW, will speak on April 19 at the FSU College of Medicine Geriatrics Interest Group monthly meeting. Her topic is “What is Elder Law.” The goal of her presentation is for first and second year medical students to develop a basic understanding of the practice of elder law and how the law and medicine work together to protect individuals with disabilities and the elderly. She will discuss basic estate planning, incapacity documents, guardianship proceedings when estate and incapacity planning fails, and exploitation of vulnerable adults.
